Course Overview

The Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Tourism Management at Asia Pacific University of Technology & Innovation (APU) equips students with comprehensive skills in tourism operations, hospitality management, and event planning, preparing graduates for dynamic roles such as Travel and Tourism Consultant, Event Planner, and Hospitality Manager.

Program Structure

  • Year 1: Introduction to management, business communication, digital thinking, accounting, marketing, people management, hospitality and tourism fundamentals, services management, legal aspects, entrepreneurship, and an introduction to VRAR and the Metaverse.
  • Year 2: Digital marketing, consumer behaviour, business research methods, innovation processes, e-tourism, geography of travel and tourism, international cultural and communication, retail travel operations, ticketing and computer reservation systems, hospitality and tourism revenue management, sports and recreational tourism, and facilities management.
  • Internship: A 16-week industrial training to bridge academic learning with practical industry experience.
  • Year 3: Crisis management and communications, sustainability in tourism and hospitality, managing people and performance, meetings, incentives, conventions and exhibitions (MICE), investigations in tourism management, venture building, tourism policy, planning and development, monitoring and evaluation of services management, international tourism marketing, and a final year project.

Entry Requirements

  • STPM: 2 Passes with a minimum Grade C (GP 2.0).
  • A-Level: 2 Passes (Grade A-D).
  • UEC: 5 Grade B’s.
  • Matriculation/Foundation: Passed with a minimum CGPA of 2.0.
  • Diploma: Successful completion of the APU Diploma or equivalent.
  • English Requirements for International Students: IELTS 5.0, TOEFL IBT 40, Pearson (PTE) 47, or MUET Band 3.5.
