Course Overview

The Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering with Honours at Asia Pacific University of Technology & Innovation (APU) provides students with a comprehensive education in mechanical engineering principles, including mechanics, thermodynamics, and materials science. Graduates are well-prepared for diverse roles such as mechanical engineer, design engineer, project manager, and research and development engineer.

Program Structure

Year 1: Fundamental courses covering engineering materials, instrumentation and measurement, programming with Python, engineering design, engineering mathematics, manufacturing technology, engineering statics and dynamics, thermodynamics, and fundamentals of entrepreneurship.
Year 2: Specialized modules including digital electronics, engineering mathematics, introduction to electrical systems, strength of materials, fluid mechanics, innovation processes, safety in oil and gas engineering, formation evaluation and well logging, and petroleum geochemistry.
Year 3: Advanced topics such as control engineering, venture building, mechanics of machines, machine design, industrial automation, microprocessor systems and embedded software, advanced manufacturing technology, computer-aided engineering, and engineering project management.
Year 4: Industry-focused modules including project phases I and II, group design projects I and II, engineering vibration, heat transfer, and engineer in society.
Internship: A 16-week industrial training to bridge academic learning with real-world experience.

Entry Requirements

STPM: 2 Passes with a minimum Grade C (GP 2.0) in Mathematics and Physics (or Chemistry), and a Credit in Mathematics and Physics (or Chemistry) at SPM Level or its equivalent.
A-Level: 2 Passes (Grade A-D) including Mathematics and Physics (or Chemistry).
UEC: 5 Grade B’s, including Mathematics and Physics (or Chemistry).
Matriculation/Foundation: Passed the relevant Foundation programme (minimum CGPA of 2.0) with a Credit in Mathematics and Physics (or Chemistry) at SPM/O-Level/IGCSE or equivalent.
Diploma: Successful completion of the APU/APIIT Engineering Diploma or a Diploma in Engineering from other recognized institutions, subject to credit transfer approval.
