Course Overview
The Bachelor of Petroleum Engineering with Honours at Asia Pacific University of Technology & Innovation (APU) equips students with comprehensive skills in petroleum engineering, including reservoir simulation, drilling engineering, and production engineering. Graduates are prepared for roles such as Production Engineer, Reservoir Engineer, and Drilling Engineer.
Program Structure
- Year 1: Foundational topics in engineering materials, programming, mathematics, statics and dynamics, entrepreneurship, engineering design, fundamental petroleum engineering, and petroleum geology.
- Year 2: Intermediate topics covering fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, engineering software applications, innovation processes, reservoir rock and fluid properties, safety in oil and gas engineering, fluid flow in porous media, petroleum geochemistry, and formation evaluation and well logging.
- Year 3: Advanced topics including reservoir simulation, production engineering, reservoir engineering, well testing, gas engineering, enhanced oil recovery, well engineering, and venture building.
- Year 4: Specialization through field development projects, petroleum economics, and elective modules such as advanced well test analysis, advanced drilling engineering, drilling hydraulics, and advanced well completion.
- Internship: A 16-week industrial training to bridge academic learning with real-world experience.
Entry Requirements
- STPM: 2 Passes with a minimum Grade C (GP 2.0) in Mathematics and Physics (or Chemistry), and a Credit in Mathematics and Physics (or Chemistry) at SPM Level or its equivalent.
- A-Level: 2 Passes (Grade A-D) including Mathematics and Physics (or Chemistry).
- UEC: 5 Grade B’s, including Mathematics and Physics (or Chemistry).
- Matriculation/Foundation: Passed the relevant Foundation programme (minimum CGPA of 2.0) with a Credit in Mathematics and Physics (or Chemistry) at SPM/O-Level/IGCSE or equivalent.
- Diploma: Successful completion of the APU/APIIT Engineering Diploma or a Diploma in Engineering from other recognized institutions, subject to credit transfer approval.
- English Requirements for International Students: IELTS: 5.0; TOEFL IBT: 40; Pearson (PTE): 47; MUET: Band 3.5.
