Course Overview

The Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology at City University equips students with essential skills in clinical microbiology, chemical pathology, hematology, and immunology, preparing graduates for roles such as Medical Laboratory Technologist, Clinical Scientist, and Research Scientist.

Program Structure

Year 1: Foundational courses including Academic English I & II, Clinical Microbiology 1, Chemical Pathology 1, Hematology 1, Biochemistry, Immunology, and Lab Instrumentation.
Year 2: Advanced topics such as Blood Banking 1 & 2, Cytopathology 1 & 2, Histopathology 1 & 2, Clinical Microbiology 2 & 3, Hematology 2, Chemical Pathology 2, Parasitology 1 & 2, and Biostatistics & Epidemiology.
Year 3: Practical experience through Industrial Training I & II.

Entry Requirements

SPM or equivalent with a pass in Bahasa Malaysia and English, and five credits including Mathematics, one science subject (Biology, Physics, Chemistry, General Science, or Applied Science), and any other three subjects.
GCE/O Level or equivalent with a pass in Bahasa Malaysia or English, and five Grade C including Mathematics, one science subject (Biology, Physics, Chemistry, General Science, or Applied Science), and any other three subjects.
Certificate (Level 3, MQF) related to Health Sciences with a minimum CGPA of 2.75.
For international students: A minimum score of 4.0 in IELTS or equivalent.
