The Doctor of Philosophy in Agriculture at Lincoln University College is a research-intensive program designed to cultivate independent and innovative thinking in agricultural education. This thesis-based program enables students to acquire advanced agricultural knowledge and develop expert skills in their chosen field, while conducting original, high-quality research that impacts both global researchers and local farming communities. Graduates are well-prepared for roles such as Agricultural Officer, Senior Research Fellow, Consultant, and Professor.
Program Structure
- Research Methodology: Equips students with the skills to design and conduct rigorous agricultural research.
- Computer Application: Provides training in the use of computational tools and software relevant to agricultural studies.
- Dissertation: An extensive research project in one of the following specialties:
- Agronomy and Crop Science
- Grain Growing
- Agriculture and Bioresources Economy
Entry Requirements
- A Master’s Degree (Level 7, MQF) in Agriculture or related fields accepted by the Higher Education Provider (HEP) Senate.
- Other qualifications equivalent to a Master’s Degree (Level 7, MQF) recognized by the Government of Malaysia.
- Candidates without a related qualification or with relevant working experience must undergo appropriate prerequisite courses determined by the HEP.
- Bachelor’s Degree (Level 6, MQF) candidates registered for Master’s Degree programs may apply to convert to the Doctoral Degree program under specific conditions, including:
- Application within one year for full-time and within two years for part-time candidates.
- Demonstrated competency and capability in conducting research at the Doctoral level through rigorous internal evaluation by the HEP.
- Approval of the HEP Senate.
- Publication of at least one research paper in a refereed journal.
- For international students, a TOEFL score of 500 or an IELTS score of 5.0, or its equivalent, is required. If this requirement is not met, English proficiency courses will be offered to ensure sufficient language skills for the program.
