The Advanced Diploma in Midwifery at MAHSA University is a specialized program designed for registered nurses aiming to enhance their expertise in midwifery. This program equips students with comprehensive skills in gynecology, obstetrics, neonatal care, and postpartum nursing, preparing graduates for roles such as State Registered Nurse and Midwife, Midwifery Manager, Clinical Instructor, and independent midwife.

Program Structure

  • Semester 1: Anatomy & Physiology, Normal Pregnancy, Normal Labour, Normal Puerperium, Perinatal & Neonatal, Nutrition, Nursing Practice 1
  • Semester 2: High Risk & Obstetrical Emergencies, Pregnancy with Associated Medical Conditions & Problems, Planned Parenthood, Research Methodology & Statistics, Personal & Professional Development, Nursing Practice 2
  • Semester 3: Nursing Practice 3, Nursing Practice 4

Entry Requirements

  • Diploma in Nursing from a recognized institution with a minimum of 2 years clinical working experience and 3 months experience in midwifery
  • Registered with Nursing Board Malaysia (NBM) for local candidates or Nursing Council from country of origin for international candidates
  • Possess Annual Practicing Certificate (APC) for local candidates or Temporary Practicing Certificate (TPC) from NBM before clinical placement for international candidates
  • International candidates: English proficiency with IELTS 5.5 or TOEFL 515/215/80; ability to converse in Bahasa Melayu
  • Medically fit, free from serious medical conditions, and without physical disabilities or impaired senses that hinder nursing dexterity
