Course Overview

The Bachelor of Science Biotechnology (Hons) at MAHSA University is a comprehensive 3-year program designed to equip students with essential skills in biology, chemistry, bioprocess engineering, genetics, and molecular biology. Graduates are prepared for diverse roles such as research associate, laboratory technician, quality assurance specialist, and forensic scientist.

Program Structure

  • Year 1: Foundational courses including Basic Chemistry, Biostatistics for Biotechnologist, Biophysics and Instrumentation, Introduction to Biotechnology, and Developmental Biology.
  • Year 2: Intermediate subjects such as Cell Structure and Dynamics, Genetics, Basic Microbiology, Bioprocessing, and Cell and Tissue Culture.
  • Year 3: Advanced topics including Molecular Diagnosis, Bio Techniques, Immunology & Immunotechnology, Research Methodology, Molecular Biology, and specialized electives. The program culminates with an Industrial Training component.

Entry Requirements

  • Pass STPM with a minimum of Grade C (GPA 2.00) in any two subjects, and possess SPM with three credits in Mathematics, one science subject, and one other subject, or its equivalent.
  • International students are required to achieve a minimum score of 5.0 in IELTS or Band 3 in MUET, or its equivalent.
