Course Overview
The Bachelor of Cinematic Arts (Hons.) at Multimedia University (MMU) offers a comprehensive "script-to-screen" approach to filmmaking, equipping students with skills in idea development, directing, screenwriting, and post-production. Graduates are prepared for diverse roles such as film director, producer, scriptwriter, and editor.
Program Structure
- Year 1: Courses include Cinematic Arts Design 1 & 2, Film Study 1 & 2, Production Management, Principles of Directing and Acting, Screenwriting Fundamentals, Lighting, Post-Production, and Sound Design.
- Year 2: Focuses on New Modes Production, New Modes of Cinema, Production Design and Art Direction, Visual Effects, Documentary Production, Fundamentals of Documentary, Asian Cinema, and an Internship.
- Year 3: Includes Cinematic Arts Design Project 1 & 2 (FYP1 & FYP2), Cinematic Research Project, Professional Practice and Management, Cinematic Applications, Portfolio Preparations, TV Production, and Media Law.
- Electives: Students choose one from options like Motion Capture, Directors, Costume Design and Make-up, Animation, Mobile Cinema, Sound Design 2, Intro to Special Effect, or Zombies, Monsters, Cyborgs; and two from Advanced Post-Production, Advanced Screenwriting, Advanced Cinematography, or Advanced Producing.
Entry Requirements
- Pass Foundation/Matriculation studies in a related field from a recognized institution.
- Pass STPM or its equivalent with a minimum of Grade C (GPA 2.00) in any two subjects.
- Pass A-Level with a minimum of Grade D in any two subjects.
- Pass UEC with a minimum of Grade B in at least five subjects, inclusive of English.
- Recognized Creative Multimedia Diploma or its equivalent with a minimum CGPA of 2.50.
- Pass DKM/DLKM/DVM with a minimum CGPA of 2.50. Candidates with CGPA below 2.50 must have at least two years of work experience in the related field.
- Possess an APEL.A certificate from MQA for admission into Bachelor programs.
- Pass an interview or submission of a portfolio, as determined by MMU.
