The Bachelor of Education (Hons) in Guidance & Counselling at SEGi University's Kota Damansara Campus equips students with essential skills in counselling psychology, group counselling, and career counselling, preparing graduates for roles such as school counsellors, career advisors, and mental health support specialists.

Program Structure

Year 1: Foundational courses including Academic English, Introduction to Education, Communication and Thinking Skills, Sociology and Development of Children and Adolescents, Introduction to Curriculum and Pedagogy, Technology in Education, Pedagogy and Diversity, Educational Psychology, Assessment and Evaluation in Education, and Guidance and Counselling in Education.
Year 2: Intermediate courses such as Ethics and Professionalism in Teaching, Personal Development and Communication Skills, Planning and Organizing Supportive Learning Environments, Practicum 1, and Classroom and Behaviour Management.
Year 3: Advanced courses including Management and Leadership in Education, Business Ethics, Introduction to Research in Education, Practicum 2, Research Project on Contemporary Issues and Trends in Education, and Practicum 3.
Specialisation in Guidance and Counselling: Courses covering Introduction to Counselling Psychology, Theories and Techniques in Counselling, Issues and Ethics in the Helping Professions, Group Counselling, Career Counselling, Diversity in Counselling, Working with Disaffected Children, Family Counselling, Child and Adolescent Counselling, and Mental Health.

Entry Requirements

STPM – with 2 principals (minimum Grade C) and a CGPA of 2.0.
A-Level – 2 subjects with grades A to D.
Foundation – Completion of a recognized foundation program.
UEC – Grade B in 5 subjects.
Australian Matriculation – Completion of Year 12 with relevant certificates.
Diploma – Any related diploma.
Other equivalent qualifications recognized by the Malaysian Government.
