Program Structure: A Pathway to Computing Research Excellence

The PhD (Computing) programme is structured to build research expertise progressively, through coursework, independent research, and thesis submission.

• Phase 1: Coursework and Research Proposal
  • Research Methodologies: Learn advanced qualitative and quantitative methods applicable to computing research.
  • Literature Review: Conduct a comprehensive review to identify gaps and refine the research topic.
  • Research Proposal Development: Formulate and submit a research proposal under the guidance of a supervisor.
• Phase 2: Independent Research
  • Data Collection and Analysis: Gather and analyse data using appropriate computing tools and techniques.
  • Experimental and Applied Studies: Conduct empirical or applied investigations as required for the research focus.
  • Thesis Development: Prepare the doctoral thesis documenting methods, findings, analysis, and conclusions.
• Phase 3: Thesis Submission and Defense
  • Submit the completed doctoral thesis for review.
  • Defend the thesis in an oral examination before a panel of experts.

Entry Requirements

• Master’s Degree: Relevant Master’s degree in Computing, IT, or related fields with a minimum CGPA of 3.00 or equivalent.
• Research Proposal: Submission of a research proposal detailing the intended area of study.
• English Language Requirements: IELTS 6.0, TOEFL IBT 79, Pearson (PTE) 58, or MUET Band 4. Additional English courses may be required if these standards are not met.
