Course Overview
The Bachelor of Software Engineering (Honours) at Taylor's University equips students with comprehensive knowledge and technical skills in software development methodologies, programming languages, algorithms, database systems, software testing, and project management. Graduates are prepared for roles such as Computer Communications Specialist, Games Developer, IT Consultant, Software Architect, and Software Designer.
Program Structure
- Year 1: Foundational courses including Principles of Software Engineering, Database Systems, Computer Architecture and Organization, Discrete Structures, Object-Oriented Programming, Operating Systems, Advanced Programming, System Analysis and Design, and Software Testing.
- Year 2: Intermediate topics such as Software Design, Computer Networks, Software Project Management, Requirement Engineering, Software Construction, Software Lifecycle, and Software Safety and Security.
- Year 3: Advanced subjects including Capstone Project I & II, Human-Computer Interaction, Professional Practices and Information Security, and Industrial Training.
Entry Requirements
- Foundation: Pass with a minimum CGPA of 2.00.
- Diploma in Information Technology (DIT): Pass with a minimum CGPA of 2.50 (candidates with CGPA below 2.50 but above 2.00 may be admitted subject to internal evaluation).
- STPM: A pass with a minimum grade of C (CGPA 2.00) in Mathematics and one Science/ICT subject.
- UEC: Pass with a minimum of 5Bs, including Mathematics or Advanced Mathematics.
- A Level: Pass with a minimum of DD.
- AUSMAT (SACEi): Minimum ATAR of 55.
- Canadian Pre-University (CPU): Minimum average of 50% in 6 subjects.
- International Baccalaureate (IB): Minimum of 24 points in 6 subjects.
- Monash University Foundation Year (MUFY): Overall 50%.
- Other Qualifications: Recognized diplomas or equivalent qualifications with specific CGPA requirements.
- English Language Requirements: IELTS 5.0, TOEFL iBT 79, or equivalent.
