The BBus in Business Studies with Event Management focuses on an industry that encompasses thousands of companies, contractors, and freelancers involved in creating, managing, and supporting concerts, festivals, sporting events, cultural experiences, conferences, trade shows, marketing events, brand activations, product launches, and exhibitions. The events sector is estimated to contribute more than €3.5 billion annually to the Irish economy and directly employs approximately 35,000 people. Event management demands strong attention to detail, effective teamwork, and a comprehensive understanding of the technical, logistical, and creative elements required to deliver successful events. This programme offers a balanced mix of theoretical and practical learning, exploring current trends and best practice in event management. It develops practical skills across all stages of the event lifecycle, from planning and design through to delivery, post-event debriefing, and evaluation, while supporting progression to leadership roles within the sector. Students gain experience by planning and delivering live events, reflecting the professional environments encountered after graduation. The programme integrates the creative and commercial dimensions of event management, encouraging the development of creativity alongside strong business knowledge. By combining technical event management expertise with core business competencies, graduates are prepared to work and progress in a wide range of event-related settings. A full semester of work placement and/or the opportunity to study at partner universities across Europe is included, complemented by regular field trips and guest lectures. The programme is well suited to individuals with an interest in meeting people, organising events, and working collaboratively, and it supports career opportunities across sports, tourism, entertainment, hospitality, and corporate event environments.
