The BBus (Hons) in Accounting and Finance is designed to meet the competence requirements of professional accountancy bodies while providing a range of learning experiences tailored to careers in accounting and finance. The programme’s practical focus ensures graduates are work-ready, with employment opportunities in professional accounting practice, commerce, industry, government, the not-for-profit sector, and secondary school teaching. In addition to developing accounting and finance knowledge, the programme emphasizes management and high-level transferable skills sought by employers. The programme assumes no prior knowledge of accounting, finance, or economics. The degree is recognised by leading professional accountancy bodies, including CAI, ACCA, CIMA, and CPA, and fulfills the Teaching Council’s degree requirement for registration as a post-primary teacher, provided the full programme is completed at TUS (Moylish). A teaching qualification such as the Professional Master of Education (PME) is also required for those pursuing teaching. Graduates can pursue positions such as trainee accountant in professional practice, industry, or the public sector, trainee tax advisor, funds analyst, general management roles across various sectors, and secondary school teaching (subject to completion of a PME).
