The BSc in Creative Broadcast and Film Production is a skills-based programme that provides students with the opportunity to explore the film and broadcast media industry across a range of disciplines, including film and TV production, visual effects, editing, radio production, screenwriting, mobile journalism, art direction, audio mixing, photography, event production, and broadcast technologies for both new and traditional media platforms. Upon successful completion of this Level 7 programme, students can progress to a Level 8 BSc (Honours) degree. The programme offers extensive academic and career progression opportunities in broadcast, film, digital communications, and creative media industries, with practical experience through hands-on production work placements, practice opportunities, or Erasmus exchanges in Year 3. The curriculum emphasizes industry-led production and post-production practices, including digital photography, cinematography techniques, creative design for CGI, VFX, digital art direction, audio production and sound design, screenwriting, and film studies. Students benefit from in-house production units offering structured work practice opportunities and a vibrant community within the Limerick School of Art and Design. Graduates of the programme have pursued careers in roles such as camera operator, sound recording, radio production, post-production video editing, visual effects animation, photography, sound engineering and mixing, multimedia promotions and event management, and AV studio and live events production. The programme also encourages participation in national and regional competitions and film festivals, fostering award-winning student productions.
