The BSc (Hons) in Drug and Medicinal Product Analysis has been developed in collaboration with industry professionals from sectors that employ programme graduates. The programme prepares graduates with a comprehensive understanding of how medicines and healthcare products, including medical devices, pharmaceuticals, and biopharmaceuticals, are manufactured and evaluated to ensure safety, effectiveness, and high quality. It is a highly relevant qualification with strong employment prospects, supported by an eight-month work placement in Year 3 that provides valuable industry experience. Graduates have secured roles in leading organisations such as Regeneron, Johnson & Johnson Vision Care, Pfizer, Edwards Lifesciences, Boston Scientific, Wyeth, Stryker, and GlaxoSmithKline. The employment record of graduates from this programme is among the strongest in Ireland, with opportunities across the medical device, biopharmaceutical, pharmaceutical, healthcare, chemical, food, and local authority sectors, industries that collectively contribute more than €40 billion annually to the Irish economy. Graduates progress into roles including process scientist, production specialist, analytical chemist, microbiologist, quality assurance specialist, regulatory affairs specialist, quality and validation engineer, and laboratory or operational management positions. Successful graduates are eligible to progress to Level 9 and Level 10 postgraduate programmes at TUS or elsewhere.
