Course Overview

The BA (Hons) Event & Tourism Management (A Dual Award with HTMi Switzerland) at UCSI University, Kuching Campus, equips students with operational, supervisory, and managerial skills essential for the modern event and tourism industry. Graduates are prepared for diverse roles such as Travel Agency Manager, Tour Operator, Cruise Manager, and Event Manager.

Program Structure

Year 1: Introduction to Accounting, Fundamentals of Hospitality and Tourism Industry, Cross Cultural Studies, Introduction to Management and Organisation Theory, Hospitality and Tourism Human Resource Management, Business Statistics, Introduction to the Events Industry, Event Design and Production, Destination Marketing, Special Interest Tourism.
Year 2: Graphic Design and Photography, Managing Event Venues, Tour and Travel Operations, Visitor Attraction Management, Entrepreneurship, Event Operations Management, Business Research Method, Business Events, Hospitality and Tourism Strategic Management, Independent Project A, Event Bidding, Technology for Events.
Year 3: Tourism and Business of Hotels, Tourism Planning, Development and Management, Leadership and Business Performance, Independent Project B, Event Risk Management, Community Service in Tourism, Co-operative Placement.

Entry Requirements

Foundation Year: Pass with a minimum CGPA of 2.0.
STPM: Pass with minimum 2 principals (C).
A-Level: Minimum 2 principals (D).
UEC: Pass with minimum 5 credits (B6).
National Matriculation: Minimum CGPA of 2.0.
International Baccalaureate (IB): A minimum score of 26 credits from 6 subjects.
Canadian Pre-U: Minimum average of 60% in 6 subjects.
SAM: Minimum average of 60% in 5 subjects.
Other equivalent qualifications: To be reviewed by the faculty on a case-to-case basis.
