Course Overview

The BCA (Hons) 3D Animation Design at UCSI University in Kuala Lumpur is designed to nurture the talents of tomorrow’s artists today. From the inception of an idea to the final creative works, students are trained to think, produce, and speak the language of 3D animation. This comprehensive program equips graduates with the skills necessary for roles in advertising agencies, multimedia labs, design studios, corporate art departments, television network stations, and animation houses.

Program Structure

Year 1: Courses include Art History, Life Drawing, Graphic and Image Editing, Modeling, Visual Communication, University Life (MPU-U2), Drawing for Animation, Basic Photography, Traditional Animation, Introduction to Public Speaking, Studio-Based Learning, and Extra-curricular Learning Experience 1 (MPU-U4).
Year 2: Courses include Design and Layout, Animation Studies, Advanced Modeling, Animation, Rendering, Proposal Writing, Post Production, Character Animation, Religions in Malaysia (MPU-U3), Practical Training, and Extra Curricular Learning Experiences 2 (MPU-U4). Electives: Design for Motion Graphics, Digital Animation Production, Film Studies, or Video Production 1.
Year 3: Courses include Compositing and Visual Effects, Animation Project 1, Research Project, Portfolio, Animation Project 2, Extra-curricular Learning Experiences 3 (MPU-U4), and Industry Placement. Electives: Dynamics and Effects, Screen Production, or Film Directing.

Entry Requirements

Academic Qualifications:
- UEC: Minimum five (5) credits.
- STPM: Minimum Grade C in two (2) subjects (GP 2.00).
- A-Level: Minimum Grade D in two (2) subjects.
- International Baccalaureate (IB): Minimum score of 26/42 credits from six (6) subjects.
- National Matriculation: Minimum CGPA of 2.0.
- UCSI Foundation: Minimum CGPA of 2.0.
- Diploma: Minimum CGPA of 2.0.
- Other qualifications equivalent to STPM/A-Level by MQA: Minimum average score of 60%.
Portfolio Assessment: Minimum six (6) pieces of artwork are required for review.
English Language Requirements:
- For local students: MUET Band 3; SPM English Language Grade B+; SPM English Language 1119/O-Level/IGCSE Grade C; UEC English Language Grade A2.
- For international students: MUET Band 3.0; IELTS 5.5; Pearson Test of English 51; TOEFL IBT 46; TOEFL Essentials 8; Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE) 160.
