Course Overview

The BMus (Hons) Classical Music program at UCSI University in Kuala Lumpur offers a comprehensive curriculum designed to develop students' performance, teaching, and composition skills. Graduates are well-prepared for careers as soloists, accompanists, orchestral or chamber musicians, private music instructors, and composers in publishing, production, recording, and advertising sectors.

Program Structure

Year 1: Core courses including Music Theory, Aural Skills, and Major Instrument studies.
Year 2: Advanced topics such as Music History, Music Research Methodology, and ensemble participation.
Year 3: Specialization through electives, Final Year Performance or Research Project, and an Internship.

Entry Requirements

Academic Qualifications:
- STPM: At least 2 principal passes with a minimum CGPA of 2.0.
- A-Level: Minimum 2 D's.
- UEC: At least B grade in 5 subjects.
- UCSI Foundation Year or equivalent: Pass with a minimum CGPA of 2.0.
- High/Secondary School Diploma (Grade 12) or equivalent: Pass with a minimum of 60%.
Music Audition:
- Performance of 3 pieces of contrasting styles (e.g., Baroque, Classical, Romantic, or Modern).
- Classical Voice applicants: Perform pieces in at least two different languages.
English Language Proficiency:
- MUET: Band 3.
- SPM English Language: Grade B+.
- IELTS: Band 5.0.
- TOEFL iBT: 40.
