Course Overview

The Diploma in Pastry and Bakery at UCSI University in Kuala Lumpur equips students with comprehensive skills in baking science, pastry arts, and bakery management, preparing graduates for roles such as pastry chef, bakery manager, and patisserie entrepreneur.

Program Structure

Year 1: Introduction to the tourism and hospitality industry, fundamentals of baking, hospitality and tourism communication, food hygiene and sanitation management, basic culinary skills, and an industry placement.
Year 2: Advanced studies in Malaysian pastries and desserts, fundamentals of marketing, torte and gateau, nutrition in the food service industry, artisan bread, food and beverage cost control, entrepreneurship, and a second industry placement.
Year 3: Completion of the program with a final industry placement to gain real-world experience.

Entry Requirements

SPM: Pass with a minimum of three (3) credits (Grade C).
O-Level: Minimum of three (3) credits (Grade C).
UEC: Pass with a minimum of three (3) credits (Grade B).
Culinary Arts related Certificate, SKM (MQF Level 3): Pass Level 3 in a related course and SPM with at least one (1) credit.
Polytechnic Certificates: Pass.
Other Qualifications: Deemed equivalent to SPM/O-Level by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency with a minimum overall average of 50%.
