Course Overview

Program Structure

  • Issues and Methods of Architecture Research: Bi-weekly lectures over one semester, exposing candidates to various architectural issues and providing basic training in academic writing.
  • Research: Regular discussions with supervisors each semester to receive feedback and discuss research progress. Prior to graduation, candidates are expected to publish a minimum of four papers in peer-reviewed journals or conferences and deliver oral presentations every semester to develop public speaking abilities and knowledge sharing.

Entry Requirements

  • Academic Requirements:
    • Master’s degree (Malaysia Qualification Framework, MQF Level 7) in Architecture or related fields, or its equivalent recognized by the University.
    • For students with a Master’s degree in architecture and related fields (e.g., interior design, planning, industrial design, landscape architecture), a minimum CGPA of 2.50 is required.
    • For students from fields such as anthropology, sociology, psychology, history, philosophy, religious studies, visual arts, and communication, a minimum CGPA of 3.00 is required.
    • For students from fields like civil engineering, electronics engineering, electrical engineering, and physics, a minimum CGPA of 3.00 is required.
    • Students from the above fields with a CGPA between 2.50 and 3.00 must demonstrate relevant professional experience in architecture.
  • English Language Requirements:
    • Minimum score of 6.0 for IELTS.
    • TOEFL score of 550 (paper-based), 213 (computer-based), or 79-80 (internet-based).
