Course Overview
The Diploma of Engineering Technology in Electrical and Electronics (Marine) at Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL) equips students with comprehensive skills in electrical and electronic systems specific to marine applications. Graduates are prepared for roles such as Marine Electronics Technician, Deck Electrician (Marine), and Electro-Technical Officer (ETO).
Program Structure
- Semester 1: Fundamentals of Electrical and Electronics Laboratory, Introduction to Electrical and Electronics, Introduction to Ship Technology, Occupational Safety and Health in Industries and Shipyard Operations, Engineering Science, Competency English, Technical Mathematics I, Pengajian Malaysia II or Bahasa Melayu Komunikasi I (for international students)
- Semester 2: Electric Circuits, Analogue Electronics, Electrical Workshop Practice, Mandarin I or Arabic Language I, Technical Mathematics II, Introduction to Entrepreneurship, Interpersonal Skills
- Semester 3: Instrumentation, Electrical Power and Distribution, Electronic Workshop Practice, Introduction to Programming, Automation System, Digital Electronics, Amalan Islam di Malaysia or Religious Practices Malaysia (for non-Muslim and international students), Communication English I
- Semester 4: Electrical CAD, Shipboard Electrical Installation and Auxiliary Equipment, Programmable Logic Controller, Electronic Communication System, Principles of Management, Co-Curriculum I, Maritime Communication English, Mandarin II or Arabic Language II
- Semester 5: Navigation Equipment and System, Microprocessor Based System, Power Electronics and Devices, Final Year Project
- Semester 6: Industrial Training
Entry Requirements
- Pass in SPM or its equivalent with at least a pass in English and credits (minimum Grade C) in five (5) subjects: Bahasa Melayu, Mathematics, Science/Pure Science/Technical, and two (2) other subjects; OR
- Pass in O-Level with minimum Grade C in three (3) subjects, including Mathematics and Science or Technical-based subjects.
- Must not be color blind.
