Course Overview
The Bachelor of Business Economics (Honours) at Universiti Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN) equips students with a comprehensive understanding of economic principles and their practical applications in the business world. Graduates are well-prepared for careers such as economist, planning manager, business development manager, business consultant, business executive, lecturer, and researcher.
Program Structure
- Year 1: Core courses including Principles of Management, Business Ethics, Business Law, Entrepreneurship, English for Business, Business Communication, Business Mathematics, Business Statistics, Business Accounting, and Islamic Economics and Finance.
- Year 2: Intermediate courses such as Microeconomics I & II, Macroeconomics I & II, Malaysian Economy, Natural Resources Economics, Econometrics, Mathematical Economics, and Research Methods.
- Year 3: Advanced topics including Personal Financial Management (AKPK), Green Energy and Environment, Energy Regulations and Policies, Energy Economics, Energy Management, Renewable Energy and Sustainability, International Energy Trade and Market, Energy and Society, Energy Security, Project Paper, and Industrial Training.
- Electives: Students choose four electives from options like International Trade and Finance, Industrial Economics, Economics of International Oil and Gas, Low Carbon Economics, and Economic Development.
Entry Requirements
- STPM: A pass with a minimum Grade C in any two subjects, and credits in Bahasa Melayu, Mathematics, and English at SPM level.
- STAM: Pass with a minimum grade of Jayyid, and credits in Bahasa Melayu, Mathematics, and English at SPM level.
- A-Level: Pass with a minimum Grade C in two subjects.
- Matriculation/Foundation: Pass with a minimum CGPA of 2.00, and credits in Bahasa Melayu at SPM level.
- Diploma: Pass with a minimum CGPA of 2.00, and credits in Bahasa Melayu at SPM level.
- UEC: A pass with a minimum Grade B in any five subjects.
- International Baccalaureate (IB): A pass with a minimum of 30 points.
- HND (UK) Diploma: Pass with a minimum CGPA of 2.00.
- SAME/WACE/AUSMAT: Pass with 70%, or Band 2 in two subjects.
- Others: Other equivalent qualifications recognized by the Government of Malaysia.
English Language Requirements
- Malaysian Students: MUET Band 1 and above; or IELTS 5.0 and above; or TOEFL 500 and above; or TOEFL Internet-Based Test 42 and above.
- International Students: MUET Band 3.5 and above; or IELTS 5.5 and above; or TOEFL 550 and above; or TOEFL Internet-Based Test 46 and above.
