Course Overview

The Bachelor of Information Technology (Information Systems) (Hons) at Universiti Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN) equips students with comprehensive knowledge in information systems, organization theory, strategic planning, project management, and emerging technologies. Graduates are prepared for roles such as Business Intelligence Analyst, Data Engineer, Data Scientist, and Information Systems Manager.

Program Structure

  • Year 1: Fundamentals of Information Technology, Structured Programming, Computer Systems, Cyber Security Essentials, Fundamentals of Database, System Analysis and Design, Data Communication & Computer Networks, Introduction to Object-Oriented Programming, Penghayatan Etika dan Peradaban, Falsafah dan Isu Semasa, IT Communication.
  • Year 2: Human-Computer Interaction, Web Programming, Ethics and IT Professional Practices, Database Management and Administration, IS Project Management, Business Process Reengineering, Principles of Management, Enterprise Resource Planning, Business Programming, Enterprise Architecture, Industrial Training.
  • Year 3: Project I, Technology Entrepreneurship, Information Systems Auditing, Project II, Energy and Computing, Islamic II/Comparative Religion, Occupational Safety and Health, Kursus Integriti dan Antirasuah, Introduction to Social Work.
  • Specialization in Business Analytics: Business Statistics, Business Intelligence, Business Analytics, Data Engineering, Text Analytics, Information Visualization, Data Governance and Management, Social Media for Business.

Entry Requirements

  • STPM: Pass with a minimum of Grade C (CGPA 2.00) in any 2 subjects and credit in Mathematics at SPM level or its equivalent.
  • Matriculation: Pass with a minimum CGPA of 2.00 and credit in Mathematics at SPM level or its equivalent.
  • Foundation: Pass in a related field with a minimum CGPA of 2.00 and credit in Mathematics and Additional Mathematics at SPM level or its equivalent.
  • A-Level: Pass with a minimum of Grade C in 2 subjects and credit in Mathematics at SPM level or its equivalent.
  • Diploma: Pass in a related field with a minimum CGPA of 2.50 and credit in Mathematics at SPM level or its equivalent.
  • Diploma Vokasional Malaysia (DVM): Pass any qualification equivalent to Diploma or Advanced Diploma (Level 4 or 5, MQF) in Technology and ICT-related field and pass Sijil Vokasional Malaysia (SVM) with:
    • An Academic Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.33 or higher;
    • A Vocational CGPA of 3.67 or higher and competent in all vocational modules;
    • A credit in Bahasa Melayu (SVM 1104).
  • English Requirement:
    • Have taken MUET; or
    • Pass IELTS with Band 5.0 and above; or
    • Pass TOEFL with a score of 500 and above.
