The Bachelor of Science Geoinformatics with Honours at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) equips students with expertise in geospatial data acquisition, processing, management, and application. Graduates are prepared for roles such as Geoinformation Officer, GIS/Remote Sensing Manager, and Geospatial Database Administrator.

Program Structure

  • Year 1: Foundational courses in geoinformatics, mathematics, and computer science.
  • Year 2: Intermediate topics including remote sensing, cartography, and database management.
  • Year 3: Advanced subjects such as spatial analysis, geospatial programming, and a 10-week industrial training.
  • Year 4: Specialization courses, capstone project, and elective modules.

Entry Requirements

  • Pass Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) with credit in Bahasa Melayu/Bahasa Malaysia.
  • Obtain Sijil Tinggi Pelajaran Malaysia (STPM) with at least Grade B- (2.67) in General Paper and two other subjects, including Mathematics M/T, Business Studies, Accounting, Economics, Geography, Physics, Chemistry, or Biology.
  • Achieve at least Band 2 in the Malaysian University English Test (MUET).
  • For diploma holders: A UTM Diploma or equivalent with a minimum CGPA of 2.70 in relevant disciplines such as Computer Science, Valuation, Architecture, Land Survey, Town and Regional Planning, Quantity Surveying, or Civil Engineering. Candidates with a CGPA below 2.70 may apply with at least two years of working experience.
