The Bachelor of Science (Industrial Design) with Honours at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) integrates aesthetics, technology, ergonomics, and marketing to develop innovative products. This program equips students with skills in design fundamentals, prototyping, and product development, preparing graduates for roles such as product designer, automotive designer, furniture designer, and packaging designer.
Program Structure
- Year 1: Introduction to design profession, foundational courses in design fundamentals, drawing, and workshop technology.
- Year 2: Intermediate courses including design styling, product design, and design research methods.
- Year 3: Advanced topics such as design for society and sustainability, with a mandatory internship to gain practical experience.
- Year 4: Specialization through portfolio projects, professional practice, and production management for industrial design.
Entry Requirements
- Pass Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) with credit in Bahasa Melayu/Bahasa Malaysia.
- Pass Matriculation/Asasi with a minimum CGPA of 2.00.
- Attain at least Band 2 in Malaysia University English Test (MUET).
- Specific program requirements include credits in Mathematics and Physics at SPM level, and passing an interview conducted by the university.
