The Master in Transportation Engineering at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) provides an in-depth understanding of transportation systems, geometric design, highway materials, pavement design, construction, and maintenance. Graduates are prepared for roles such as transportation engineer, highway designer, and infrastructure planner.
Program Structure
- University Courses (6 credits): Courses such as Introduction to Technopreneurship, Dynamics of Leadership, and Research Methodology.
- Core Courses (18 credits): Highway and Infrastructure Design, Advanced Road Material, Traffic and Transport Planning, Pavement Design and Construction, Public Transport System, and Traffic Management & Analysis.
- Elective Courses (6 credits): Options include Airport Planning and Design, Transport and Environmental Planning, Transport Safety, Disaster Management, Pavement Management System, GIS for Civil Engineers, Software Application in Geotechnical Engineering, Advanced Soil Mechanics, and Construction Technology.
- Free Elective Courses (6 credits): Choose any two courses offered by other programs or faculties, or from the elective courses.
- Master Project (10 credits): Master Project 1 and Master Project 2.
Entry Requirements
- A good bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia or an equivalent qualification with a minimum CGPA of 2.5.
- Applicants with a lower degree grade may be considered if they have sufficient working experience in the field.
- English language proficiency: IELTS 6.0 and above; TOEFL (iBT) score of 60 and above; Cambridge English Qualifications (CEQ) – B2 First (FCE), C1 Advanced (CAE), C2 Proficiency (CPE) – Score of 169 and above; The Pearson Test of English (PTE) Academic – Score of 59 and above; Malaysian University Entrance Test (MUET) – Band 4 and above.
