Course Overview

The Master of Engineering in Environmental Management at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) is an intensive, one-year program designed to equip students with advanced knowledge in environmental management and sustainability, solid waste management, water pollution control, and land use planning. Graduates are prepared for roles such as environmental engineers, EIA consultants, researchers, governmental officers, and lecturers.

Program Structure

Semester 1: University elective course, Research Methodology, Environmental Management and Sustainability, Water Pollution Control, Solid and Hazardous Waste Management
Semester 2: Three elective courses (options include Environmental Quality Analysis, Water Quality Assessment and Management, Physico-Chemical Treatment Processes, Biological Treatment Processes, Land Use & Environmental Planning)
Semester 3: Dissertation

Entry Requirements

Bachelor's degree in engineering, science, or technology with a minimum CGPA of 3.0/4.0 or equivalent from UTM or other recognized institutions. Candidates with a CGPA below 3.0 may be considered with relevant working experience.
Applicants without an environmental background may need to complete prerequisite courses as determined by the faculty.
English language proficiency: IELTS 6.0 or equivalent.
