Course Overview

The Bachelor of Optometry (Hons) at Management and Science University (MSU) equips students with the skills to examine, diagnose, treat, and manage diseases and disorders of the visual system and its associated structures. Graduates are prepared for roles such as optometrist, vision therapist, and ophthalmic product specialist.

Program Structure

  • Year 1: Introduction to Optics, General Pathology and Disease Process, Physical and Geometrical Optics, Eye Anatomy and Physiology
  • Year 2: Ophthalmic Optics, Visual Optics, Clinical Interview and Health History Taking, General Pharmacology
  • Year 3: Ocular Pharmacology, Investigative Techniques in Ophthalmic Diagnosis, Low Vision and Geriatric Optometry
  • Year 4: Public Health and Community Optometry, Clinical Problem Solving in Optometry, Industrial Training

Entry Requirements

  • Minimum FIVE (5) Cs including THREE (3) from Biology, Physics, Chemistry, or Mathematics at SPM/O-levels and at least a credit in English AND 2.50 CGPA at STPM level in the Science Stream
  • Minimum THREE (3) Ds at A-level including any THREE (3) from Biology, Physics, Chemistry, or Mathematics
  • Foundation in Science with 2.50 CGPA including any THREE (3) from Biology, Physics, Chemistry, or Mathematics
  • Diploma in a science-based field with 2.75 CGPA
